VOLUNTEERING AT SWL


To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must register with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities.

The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities.

Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the updated Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.

New this year: As an additional requirement under the new POPA legislation, community members who are not parents/guardians of a child registered with CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school they wish to volunteer.

HOODIE SALES


Families are invited to order SWL spirit wear! Hoodies are available for purchase and can be worn by students at school to show their SWL pride and support our school spirit. Sizing samples will be available for students to try in Room 102 during lunch from September 15-27th. Ordering details are included below—thank you for supporting our school community!

HEALTHY HUNGER


Healthy Hunger at Sir Wilfrid Laurier is now open for orders! Our school hosts hot lunch options from a variety of restaurants throughout the year. To order these lunches, go to https://healthyhunger.ca , create an account, add your student, select their homeroom and you will then be able to see the dates and restaurants we are offering. Make sure to get your orders in 5 days before the lunch day. Our first lunch will take place on September 17th,  and we are ordering from Little Caesars Pizza.

ATTENDANCE MESSAGE

  • At SWL attendance is taken for each of the seven periods of the day. If your child misses any part of a day or is late for a period you will receive an attendance summary of all the periods not just the period missed.
  1. The e-mail you will receive says, in part:
  2. “This email is to inform you that your child, (Child’s name), has been marked as absent or late for either part or the whole day on (Date).
  3. Below you will see some common attendance information:
    “P” before the name of the class that means the child was present for that class
    “A” before the name of the class means the child was absent for the class
    “AP” before the name of the class means the child is absent but a parent called
    “L” before the name of the class means the child was late for the class
    “FE” before the name of the class means the child was on a family holiday or event
    “LVE” before the name of the class means the child left early
    “LP” before the name of the class means late but parent called in
  4. If you receive a call regarding your child’s attendance, please check your PowerSchool account for detailed attendance information. You can log in to your account at any time during the day to see the information as it is there once the teacher has submitted attendance each period of the day.

ATHLETICS


Soccer and Cross Country Schedules are now posted on the SWL Website under Athletics

Game & Practice Schedules
Students are required to check with their coaches for game and practice schedules. The office does not have a list of schedule or time changes.
